NARR: New York City is the only place in the state where home care workers can legally be asked to work 24-hour shifts. A bill is being introduced to City Council that sponsors hope will change things for those 24-hour workers. This bill is Intro 303, more commonly known by another name.

NARR: The No More 24 Act has been introduced to City Council before, in 2022. Last time, it stalled. Before the bill’s hearing, supporters rallied in front of City Hall Park.
MARTE: “The women behind me are immigrant women of color and they’ve been exploited not just by their employer but by a system created by the state to push them down, take their wages and make them work torturous hours.”
NARR: This time, over 100 people showed up to testify at the bill’s. The feminist Am I A Woman Campaign reported that 100% of testimony heard was in favor of the bill.
